Why Are Parent Teacher Relationships Important?
“Most educators would agree that parent involvement is a critically important factor in determining student success". Parent-teacher relationships are vital in any student’s education, but when the child has a special need the importance of the parent-teacher relationship increases drastically. According to Dardig, “One of a special education teacher’s most important responsibilities has always been maintaining a strong and productive relationship with each student’s parents”. Children who have special needs need to have all of the important role models in their lives on the same page when it comes to their education and experiences, thus creating the importance of strong, positive parent-teacher relationships.
